Small elegant bag handmade in one of the many weaving communities in the highlands around San Cristobal de las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico. The design is a brocade (woven, not embroidered), a technique passed down from the ancient Maya culture.  Each Mayan community has their own traditional motifs that are created on a back-strap loom.
 
The bag is 7-1/4' wide by 5" deep with a slightly rounded base, zippered closure, has tassels and a twisted cotton strap
