Small elegant evening or passport bag handmade in one of the many weaving communities in the highlands around San Cristobal de las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico. The design is a brocade (woven, not embroidered), a technique passed down through the centuries. Each Mayan community has their own traditional motifs that are created on a back-strap loom. The bag is 7-1/4' long by 5" wide with zippered closure, has tassels and a twisted cotton strap.
