The elegant large wuwa with the monkey and diamond motif are the most traditional design elements in Ye'kwana culture.  A basket this size can take 2 months to make, not counting the time to go into the forest to find the fibers.  These fibers have been used for centuries to make the extra large plain wuwa that is the model for this decorative basket.
