This hand woven basket comes from Swaziland and Tinsaba who represents over 400 rural women artisans throughout Swaziland in Africa.  Sisal is a natural fiber  sisal, a member of the Agave family of plants.  The natural cream-colored fiber is scraped from the leaf with a sharp instrument, dried and dyed, then twisted and hand woven.  This is the more traditional geometric pattern.  There is a woven tab sewen into the back of the basket to hang.  The purchase of this basket contributes to women's empowerment.
